Congratulations on your decision to attend Mason Gross School of the Arts. You are about to enter one of the most dynamic places to attend school. Your time here will be filled with some of the most exciting moments of your life. Prior to attending, visit the Enrollment Pathway. Refer to the Scarlet Guides for more information about starting your college career: Rutgers University Scarlet Guide Registration Program, Saturday, May 10 Incoming Dance Majors: On May 10 you will meet your academic advisor, Professor Julia Ritter, to discuss your academic schedule for fall. She will review your degree requirements and introduce you to the policies and procedure in the Dance Department. You will also meet current BFA Dance majors as well as the other students in your entering class. Your parents are invited to attend a Parents Program which will run concurrently. Incoming Music Majors: On May 10, you will meet with Professor Doug Johnson, your academic advisor, to discuss your academic schedule for fall semester, 2008. You will also take the Piano Proficiency test. This is also an opportunity to familiarize yourself with the Marryott Music Building, meet current Music majors and learn the answers to any questions you may have. Your parents are invited to attend a Parents Program which will run concurrently. Incoming Visual Arts Majors: On Saturday, May 10, 2008, you will meet your academic advisor, Fran Maxwell to discuss the elective course in Visual Arts you will add to the foundation courses you will be registered for during the fall semester. You will also have a tour of the Civic Square Building and meet other students majoring in Visual Arts. IF YOU HAVE ATTENDED AN OPEN HOUSE or have already had a tour of the department, this program will essentially repeat what you have already learned. In this case, you may contact Fran Maxwell by phone (732-932-2222 x797) or by email (fmaxwell@rci.rutgers.edu) to choose your elective course for fall. Your parents are invited to attend a Parents Program which will run concurrently. You are welcome, but not required to attend this May 10 program. Incoming Theater Arts Majors: The Theater Arts Department does not participate in the Registration Day. There is no need to attend. The department will register you for all of your classes for fall semester. You will meet with your academic advisors on Labor Day, Monday, September 1, 2008 to discuss the specifics of class schedules. Parents will have an opportunity to meet members of the department on move-in day, Saturday, August 30. Department Credit Requirements Music Theater Arts-provided by the department Byrne First-year Seminar Seminar information and course listing Housing-it is recommended that Dance, Music, and Theater Arts students consider living on the Cook and Douglass campuses due to the close proximity to rehearsal spaces.
