The program assumes that to prosper as a professional artist, a graduate should be educated to make informed choices -- not only the aesthetic ones, but also the practical ones necessary to establish a career. The range of art-making skills are supported by a solid background in art history and contemporary critical analysis, which is in turn supported by core liberal arts courses. This mix of approaches enables students to graduate from the B.F.A. or M.F.A. program with the variety of skills necessary for a career as a creative artist in today's diverse and changing art world.
